A nice warm bath would not be completed without the right heating. And installing a bathroom towel rail could be tricky and costly if not completed with the right kit.
To help you decide, here’s a short elucidation on whether you should be installing a towel rail valve on your towel radiators/ heated towel rails.
TOWEL RAIL VALVES (TRV)
The name defines its purpose. To put it simply, it is an essential part of a radiator or heated towel rail. Providing you with controlled heated flow of water for a nice warm bath.
TYPE OF TOWEL RAIL VALVES
Straight Radiator Valves

Straight valves function letting the flow of water in a straight line. The process is the water runs through one end and out in the other without changing direction. A cheaper option compared to other types.
Angled Radiator Valves

Angled valves let the water run in a 90° angle from the valve to the radiator. Allowing it to be positioned in hidden walls tucking the ugly works behind a wall or other awkward areas that fit well with the bathroom design. Have value for its price depending on usage.
WHY YOU SHOULD INSTALL A TRV?
Pros:
- Great way to regulate temperature.
- It automatically shuts off when it reaches a certain temperature. Saving costs on your bill.
Cons:
- When installed in the bathroom, TRV shuts down due to heat from showering or taking a bath.
- Does not work well with wall mounted thermostat. Conflict in temperature regulation will arise in both heating system.
CONCLUSION
With modern smart technologies nowadays, TRVs are no longer a required kit when installing your heated towel rail, especially on bathrooms.
One good sample towel rail that does not use TRV are electric towel rails that are connected in an outlet to keep your towels heated.
However, TRVs are still dependable on other parts of the home. Be sure to have it checked regularly, say at least, once a year to keep it running smoothly every time you use it.
