What to Bring to a Bathroom Design Appointment

A bathroom design appointment is most useful when the designer can understand the room, the way you use it and the look you want to achieve. You do not need to arrive with a finished design, but a few useful details can help the conversation move quickly.

Bring room measurements if you have them

Basic room dimensions are a good starting point. Include the overall length and width, ceiling height, window and door positions, and any obvious boxed-in areas or structural features. If you are unsure whether the measurements are accurate, say so rather than treating them as final.

Bring photographs of the existing bathroom

Photos can reveal details that measurements alone do not show, including window positions, radiators, existing plumbing, wall conditions and how the room is currently arranged.

Bring plans or drawings if available

If you already have architectural drawings, builder's plans or a previous bathroom layout, bring them with you. They can help the designer understand the space more quickly.

Collect examples of styles you like

These can be screenshots, magazine images, saved social posts or photographs of bathrooms you have seen. They do not need to match exactly. Their purpose is to show the colours, materials, shapes and atmosphere you are drawn to.

Think about how the bathroom needs to work

Consider who will use the room, whether you need a bath or shower, how much storage you need, whether accessibility matters, and which parts of the current bathroom work well or cause frustration.

Discuss your likely budget and timescale

A realistic budget helps narrow the specification to suitable products and finishes. A likely installation date is also useful because different products and materials can have different lead times.

Do not worry if you do not have everything

A design appointment is the start of the planning process, not an exam. If information is missing, the Bathwise team can explain what will be needed before a design or order is finalised.
